Euronext Blue Innovation Award        Blue Economy is by definition of the World Bank the "sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and jobs while preserving the health of ocean ecosystem." Blue Economy encourages people to improve stewardship of oceans and other blue resources to foster economic growth but, at the same time, reminds to all of us that oceanic sustainability may be threatened by human intervention.       All Euronext countries are adjacent to the ocean and have rich and long-standing traditions in fishing, shipping, and seafaring. There is increasing evidence that losses in the oceans’ natural capital, resulting from unsustainable economic activity, is eroding the resource base on which growth depends. Given its global reach and local presence, Euronext’s goal is to be a leader in advancing the Blue Economy in order to mitigate this development, address the threats to the oceans, and contribute to the enhanced ocean and coastal resilience.       Furthermore, Euronext is the first and only Exchange Market signatory of the UNGC Sustainable Ocean Principles. Euronext is also a contributor to the UNGC Blue Bond Reference Paper, with the scope of identifying opportunities to use the ESG bond market to secure capital for ocean-related projects and companies that have made or are planning to make, a significant contribution to the UN SDGs.

Euronext supports the Euronext Blue Innovation Award as its mission is enhance blue education and improve the environmental sustainability of the communities in which it operates that are closely related to the ocean. The Euronext Blue Innovation Award will give student companies [1] from Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, The Netherlands, UK and India the chance to join an international competition and to develop and present innovative business ideas related to Blue Economy during the 2024 - 2025 academic year.
